Feingold, McGovern Introduce Bill to End Afghanistan War
The key idea of the bill is straightforward. By January 1 - or within 3 months of the enactment of the bill, if that is earlier - the President is required to submit to Congress a plan for the redeployment of the U.S. military from Afghanistan, with a timetable for doing so. After submitting the plan, the President has to update Congress every 90 days on how the implementation of the plan is going. The importance of establishing a timetable for military withdrawal cannot be overstated.

Rethink Afghanistan: General McChrystal's Plan for Kandahar, Afghanistan, Collides With Reality
General McChrystal claimed that the U.S. offensive in Kandahar would have the support of the local population. But reality is the opposite: shockingly, Afghan civilians don't want to be shot by U.S. soldiers.

Progressive Democrats of America: No Unconditional Military Aid to Israel
In January, President Obama requested a record $3 billion in military aid to Israel. The House of Representatives may soon grant the request, which is currently with the House Appropriations Committee. PDA opposes the unconditional granting of these funds. Now is the time to let your congressional representatives know that you too oppose the unconditional granting of such aid. PDA cites 3 conditions: freeze on settlement expansion in the West Bank and East Jerusalem; allowing sufficient food, medical aid, sanitation and building supplies into Gaza; compliance by the Administration with the Congressional mandate to investigate possible violations of the Arms Control Export Act during the Israeli invasion of Gaza.

U.S. Military Still Lying About Special Forces Night Raid in Afghanistan
Regardless of whether U.S. Special Forces removed bullets from the bodies of the Afghan women they just killed, as charged by the victims' relatives - and if they did, what their motivation was for doing so - spreading the story that the women's bodies had been found "tied up" and "gagged," as NATO did in a Feb. 12 press release still posted on its web site, if that was not true, would meet any disinterested observer's definition of the word "coverup."

Sean Penn, at a refugee camp in Port-au-Prince, tells CNN: this is going to be a catastrophe if we don't get these people to safer ground…hospitals are being allowed to close despite all the enormous funds that people have put forward…it's time that people demand that those funds be released and spent decisively.

Congressional Pressure Can End the War, Saving Many Lives
The fight over the war supplemental is tremendously important, because Congressional pressure can move Administration policy, even when critics of Administration policy don't command a majority of votes. This is especially true when, as in this case, critics are in the majority in the President's own party, and when, as in this case, the policy under pressure is an international policy which is also under significant international pressure.
