New Relationship with Latin America

We publicized threats by Republican Members of Congress against the integrity of the election in El Salvador and called on the Obama Administration to publicly declare U.S neutrality. The Obama Administration publicly stated it would work with whoever won the election and publicized this statement in El Salvador. We called on Congress to oppose efforts by Chevron to bully the government of Ecuador over an indigenous environmental lawsuit. As a result the U.S. did not impose the sanctions on Ecuador that Chevron demanded.

We called on Congress and the Obama Administration to take steps to end the U.S. embargo on Cuba, by ending the ban on travel to Cuba by Americans. The Obama Administration has lifted some restrictions and legislation to go further is moving forward in Congress.
