Action 1: Iraqi Death Toll
We estimate that over a million Iraqis have been killed violently as a result of the U.S.-led invasion and occupation. This needs to be part of the public debate over this war and other proposed military attacks on other countries, including Iran. Sign the petition to Congress and then help spread the word by writing a letter to the editor»
Action 2: Stop U.S. Support of Human Rights Abuses in Ethiopia
Ethiopia does the State Department's bidding in Somalia. Does that mean the U.S. should turn a blind eye to Ethiopia's human rights abuses? We've been letting our Members of Congress know that we think not! The House of Representatives took note and voted to reform U.S. military support to Ethiopia. Can the Senate do the same? Action 3: Reform US Food Aid
The United States provides food aid to millions of hungry people in places where war, famine, or severe poverty have disrupted food production or distribution. But U.S. law requires that nearly all food aid be grown in the U.S. and shipped at great expense across vast oceans. Delays inherent in shipping means some needy people will die.

We have a chance to make a progressive reform to this program, allowing food to be purchased near where it is needed. This will help farmers in poor countries even as it makes the program more efficient and gets more food to more people. Join the campaign»
Action 3: Ban cluster bombs
Cluster bombs threaten civilians around the world. After a war has ended, these devices often lie in and near towns, playgrounds, and farms, waiting until someone triggers their deadly explosion. Handicap International has estimated that 98 percent of all cluster bomb casualties are non-combatants.
Legislation has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives that represents a step toward banning these weapons. Please ask your Representatives to support this effort. Take Action»
This legislation has also been introduced in the U.S. Senate. Please write your Senators as well. Take Action»
Action 4: Urge your representative to support resolutions against war with Iran
The danger that the Bush Administration will attack Iran on its own say-so is high. Major naval groups have been moved to the Persian Gulf to back up the aggressive posturing of the administration, which includes authorizing the killing of Iranian officials inside Iraq.
Several resolutions have been introduced in Congress to make clear that the President cannot launch an attack in the absence of Congressional authority. Ask your representative to support them. Take Action»
