Just Foreign Policy Welcomes Historic U.S. Agreement with Iran
Washington, DC - Today, the U.S., Iran, and other world powers announced a historic agreement to sharply restrict Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for the removal of international sanctions on Iran. Following the announcement, Just Foreign Policy released the following statement attributable to Policy Director Robert Naiman:
“We welcome today’s announcement of a historic deal with Iran. This is a good deal for America that makes the world safer by blocking potential Iranian pathways to a nuclear weapon, thereby removing any excuse for another disastrous war of choice in the Middle East. The American people have consistently supported this diplomatic path and rejected calls for yet another war in the Middle East.
Republican leaders who still hope for war in the future are already threatening to try to kill the deal. As Congress reviews the deal over the next two months, we will defend the deal and challenge Democrats and war-skeptic Republicans to defend it as well.
We hope that this historic agreement will open a new period of cooperation in U.S.-Iran relations, aiding efforts to end the civil wars in Syria and Yemen.”
