Kucinich Resolution Call-In Report Back

Thank you for calling your Representative urging them to support the Kucinich resolution for a withdrawal timetable from Afghanistan, H. Con Res. 248.

Let us know how your call went by submitting a comment below. Sharing your Representative's name, whether you were successful in reaching their office, and any feedback you received from staffers would be especially helpful.

Thanks!

It is time that the House used its constitutional authority to declare war and to withhold funding when appropriate. We should be out of Afghanistan soon.

Called Congressman Bobby Rush's office. Told him that I hope he votes for the Kucinich resolution to pull out the troops, and said that I think he probably knows that most of his constituents want him to vote to pull out the troops.

I was told that my concerns would be passed to the Congressman.

I called to request that Gresham Barrett support the resolution. The aide simply said that he would pass my comments along to the congressman--he didn't even ask my name. (He may have been too stunned--this is South Carolina, after all.) Hopefully it will make a bit of an impact.

I believe that no war should happen unless it is first debated in congress.G

I have called my representative, Cong. Adam Schiff and told his office that he should speak out in favor of and support Congressman Kucinich's bill on the Afghanistan War, H. Con. Res 248.

I spoke with Lauren and she said she would let Greg Walden, Republican representative from Hood River, OR know that my husband and I beseech him to vote to support the Kucinich resolution for a withdrawal timetable from Afghanistan, H. Con Res. 248.

I just called, left message.....................Nancy and I are too too old "friends".She needs to listen to her voters in her area!!

I called the home, district office of Representative Dennis Moore, Democrat of Kansas. I left a message asking for support of Rep. Kucinich's resolution, while drawing comparisons between the length of this fiasco and that of the Conflict in Vietnam.

Congressmen Frank of MA 4th CD has not yet responded, though his aide was going to discuss it with him.
Congressman McGovern will be head of the rules that day, but indicated a positive vote.
Congressman Lynch did not answer but we doubt he will support his good friend Dennis. Lynch thinks we still need troops in Afghanistan to protect women from the Taliban.

My rep.- Chellie Pingree - is a co-sponsor of the Resolution. I've called several times and signed several petitions. Her aide said he wasn't tracking this particular issue and didn't know her position. I did and said to tell her "thank you for co-sponsoring. Now how many can you convince to join you?"

I called Bobby Scott's office in DC (Richmond-Norfolk) who did vote for this in committee, but rep who answered phone says the votes aren't there to pass so it isn't going anywhere. That is, I guess, until other folks call their reps and tell them what they want their reps to DO!

i called sarbanes.
hope it helps. congress and pres spineless, just like vietnam

Phoned Carolyn Maloney's DC office. The young women said she'd "pass this along" to Maloney. In other words, Maloney will probably NOT support Dennis' resolution. A shame, of course, since the majority of voters in Maloney's CD want us out of Afghanistan and Iraq ASAP. Same old nonsense from a congresswoman who does not have Dennis' courage. Besides, it is obvious to me that most elected officials don't give a damn what their electorate wants. They only want to get re-elected and they listen to those that send them money and lots of it. Democracy in America: what a sham!

I called PA Congressman Mike Doyle's office. As other commentors have reported, the person who received the call did not take my name or show any interest beyond, "I'll pass the message along..."
I asked if Doyle had taken a position on the Resolution; the aide said he did not know.
End of story.

I called Congressman Stephen Lynch's office Ma 9th District. His secretary took my name and address. She will pass i on to the Congressman to vote for H. Con 248 and co sponsor this bill.. Hiis stand on the issue is to support the President! We are withdrawing from Afghanistan every day. Unfortunately they are the body bags. Who wants to be the last one to die in this war. We haven't reached the last soldier to die in Iraq yet? .

I called Representative Dean Heller's (R-NV) office. The young woman I spoke to first said she would have to talk to their military specialist first. She was aware of the resolution and said she would take down my name and address. Was not able to get a feeling one way or the other the way he would vote.

I called Fred Upton's office and asked him to co-sponsor. I think I have a snowball's chance in hell, but I made my call!

Two more cosponsors since first introduced:

Rep Stark, Fortney Pete [CA-13] - 3/9/2010
Rep Farr, Sam [CA-17] - 3/9/2010

Also, Peace Action says Rep. Jared Polis [CO-2] is confirmed yes.

Peace Action says Ellison is confirmed yes.

I called Rep.Charles Rangel D-NY and urged his office to co-sponsor the Withdrawal Resolution 248, vote for it and speak in support on the floor. The person answering was not aware of any prior position he hasd taken on the issue but said she would pass on the information.

Evanston peace folks say Schakowsky is yes based on conversation with staff.

this war has gone on long enough. we do not need another bush.
